Activities
On March 6, 2020, were announced three aerial acrobatic shows designed for MS Iona (available on MS Arvia too) - Rise (birds-themed), Dream (magic-themed) and Triboo (battle between the Moon and Sun tribes). Rise and Triboo are performed at the SkyDome, while Dream is at the Atrium. Two new for P&O UK aerial shows (Virtuosi, Spark) were developed for MS Iona and available on Arvia too. Arvia has a normal operating capacity of 5,200 guests and 1,800 crew.
Decks and Cabins
All clubs stay open when the ship is in port, but parents cannot disembark and leave their children on board. There are self-service laundry rooms on most cabin decks on Arvia complete with free-to-use ironing boards and irons. The ship’s Wi-Fi costs but there are packages available and, depending on where you are sailing (and how many people are using it at the same time) the connection is generally good. The My Holiday App can be uploaded onto your mobile at the start of the cruise via a QR code which is left in your cabin. On the whole it works well and is the best way to see what’s on and to make bookings for restaurants or shows.

Arvia is aimed at a younger demographic than the line’s more traditional ships and its pioneering amenities, nightlife and new restaurants are attracting first-time cruisers. That said, some of our group attended one such scheduled gathering and, disappointingly, nobody else showed. Budget travellers will be pleased to hear that Arvia has more Inside cabins than any other P&O Cruises' ship. Seeing as you’re likely to spend more time on the public decks of the Sunshine Ship than on a private cabin balcony, this is a great value option, ditto the outside cabins. We met many guests who didn’t bother upgrading to a balcony for this reason and had no regrets.
